Our special guest will be Christie Gilmour of Forte Workplace Law.
Christie Gilmour is a workplace lawyer, speaker, investigator, mentor, coach and mother of 3. She has been working with health-care professionals for years to proactively address potential workplace issues and prevent stressful and costly workplace legal claims. When issues arise, she and her team help de-escalate and resolve workplace problems.
Christie is an employment and workplace human rights lawyer. She is an extroverted people person who loves to help people figure out what they need and how to get it. She has a talent for connecting with people and understanding their point of view.
Christie’s approach is to educate and empower her clients about the law, the legal process, possible outcomes and timelines so that they can achieve the result that is best for them. She advises on all aspects of employment law and workplace human rights (discrimination at work). Advising both employers and employees gives her a valuable perspective – She often advises on opposite sides of the same issue in the same day/week. No matter what the issue, she brings her understanding and compassion to the table.
Christie attended University of Victoria for her undergraduate studies and has a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Geography. She also studied abroad at Exeter University in England, which was one of her most memorable life experiences. After law school at Dalhousie University in Halifax, she articled with a large law firm in Vancouver, then continued her practice for several years in Vancouver. In 2017, she connected with Sara Forte and was delighted to bring her practice closer to home in South Surrey. She can now ride her bike to work. She immediately knew workplace law was the right fit for her and has happily practiced exclusively in the South Surrey area since 2017.
